The Grand Tenan restaurant is rightly famous for signature dishes beef tenderloin Africana and garlic gratinated langoustine; both from the original recipes. Here you also can dine á la carte on top-class Bohuslän archipelago-inspired dishes.

On the veranda, with a marvellous view of the Paradise Park and the harbour, you can follow the boats coming in from a day at sea and people strolling along the dock.

Marstrand has an intriguing history as a royal getaway that few other places can rival. People have been enjoying therapeutic sea bathing at Marstrand since the early 19th century and ever since it has been the centre of seaside culture that developed in Sweden, inspired by the German, British and Dutch coastal resorts. Sweden’s King Oscar II spent nearly every summer between 1887 and 1907 on Marstrand, endowing the island with royal glamour.

Kungsplan (King's plane), where you find Kurhotellet, developed into a natural hub for the vibrant social activities that have made Marstrand the popular destination it is today. Societetshuset, the adjacent assembly rooms built in 1886, is where you can enjoy a fantastic lunch on the outside veranda.

Salt & Sill’s restaurant boasts one of the very best locations on the west coast. Seating on the dock and windows with ocean view offer an almost unrealistic proximity to the ocean – an ever-changing scenery all year round.

Here you can enjoy seafood and our Chef’s specials “Sillplankan” and “Klädesholmaren”, both of which are great contributors to the restaurant’s international recognition and have highlighted the herring as food experience. Ok, we might be a bit subjective as we live on Käringön, but Peterson's Krog is probably the most genuine archipelago restaurant along the entire west coast.

You have to try the gratinated mussels. You are going to want to enjoy the food and the view for a long while. On our part, we have eaten a whole lot of mussels there.

Fru S means Mrs S in Swedish. Who is this mysterious lady? Mrs. S. is the woman who traveled through time and space to collect food stories. She takes us on a trip to Naples where she learned the art of making pizza. On to Holland to experience Virgo Herring in the traditional way. That experience later became Klädesholmarpizzan. Experience it at Fru S. on Klädesholmen. And if you haven't managed to find out who Fru S is when you leave Klädesholmen, we promise to tell you the secret when you get to Käringön.
